The story
Mark has lived this nightmare before. Chad, the new intern, builds an "honest" reputation by stealing Mark's pre-paid lunches, and when Mark collapses, Chad pours scalding ramen down his throat. The burns cost Mark half his stomach and leave his face scarred. When he asks for compensation, his girlfriend Ashley hands his Christmas bonus to Chad, and his boss Annabelle, a childhood friend he served for ten years, fires him and blacklists him. Without the money for his grandma's urgent surgery, she dies. Then Mark wakes on the day Chad steals his lunch again.
This time Mark refuses the ramen and calls out Chad's cruelty before their coworkers. Ashley still takes Chad's side and docks his pay; Annabelle still threatens to fire him. But Mark has receipts for every loan he made to the company, and he is done being their stepping stone.
He quits, demanding everything back with interest, while Chad and Annabelle scheme to replace him and Ashley holds a photo she means to use against him.
Opening
The new intern, to establish his "straight-shooter" persona, had been deliberately stealing my lunch orders for a month, even taking my pre-paid meals to appease the picky boss lady. Because of his "honesty," he once force-fed me a bowl of scalding hot ramen, nearly burning through my throat. By the time I got to the hospital, they had to remove half my stomach!
When I asked for compensation, he put his arm around my girlfriend's shoulders: "I'm just a regular guy, how am I supposed to notice these things?
