The story
Georgina's clothes, towels and underwear keep taking on a strange fishy smell, even after a full-body checkup at the city hospital clears her of any illness and she switches to pricier brands. Convinced someone in her dorm is stealing and wearing her things, she sets a trap in her clothes and waits for dawn.
When she tries to raise the matter gently, her roommate Lopez turns on her, mocking her underwear and hinting she has a disease; the other two roommates back away in disgust. After Lopez sprays her with disinfectant, Georgina shoves her head into the mop bucket, and Lopez reports her to Professor McCoy, who orders an apology and a five-thousand-word self-criticism without hearing her side.
Georgina summons her aunt Mary and uncle Mueller, the relatives who raised her after her parents and brother died. When Mueller slaps her, she slaps him back, then tells him that Professor McCoy has been touching her inappropriately, tears streaming down her face.
Opening
My clothes, especially my underwear, had been smelling strange lately.
Even though the hospital tests proved there was nothing wrong with me, and I'd switched to more expensive brands, that rotten smell still lingered, faint but persistent.
I suspected someone was stealing my clothes and wearing them!
After being tormented for over a month, I'd had enough.
I collected asbestos fibers from a construction site and used tweezers to carefully insert them into my clothes.
At dawn, screams—both male and female—echoed through the dorm.
