My Wife Loved My Mom’s Boyfriend

At his mother's funeral, Stephenson learns from his fiancée Georgina that his mother died of a heart attack after walking in on Georgina and Phillips together. Phillips was his mother's boyfriend, and Georgina reveals they were a couple since college, that Phillips only dated his mother for money, and that they let his mother die at the door while they were together. Georgina says she played his mother's son for five years as revenge, and that she will marry Phillips, though she offers to keep the wedding with Stephenson so he won't lose face.

Stephenson had once turned down an arranged engagement to choose Georgina, a small shooting club owner, and his mother gave her capital, contacts and resources until her company succeeded. Phillips, once the family's part-time driver, had defended Stephenson and been his confidant. Now Georgina has become CEO of his family's company, holding forty percent of the shares, and Phillips wears the wedding suit meant for Stephenson.

Stripped of his mother, his lover and his company, Stephenson must decide what he can still hold on to.
