The story
For ten years, Aurora Hayes loved Julian Sterling, clawing her way into marriage with him. Six years in, women pass through his life like a revolving door, yet she never leaves—until, pregnant, she sees him bring another woman into their bed. Pushed away, she falls down the stairs and loses both mother and child. When she opens her eyes, she is back on the day she first saw him bring that woman home.
This time, Aurora resolves to let go of a decade of obsession. She returns to the mansion to pack her things and hands Julian divorce papers, asking for nothing from the Sterling family. But Julian refuses to let her go quietly, warning that without the Sterling name her father and brother cannot stand in the business world, and that she cannot trap him with her family as leverage.
Aurora presses her lips together, unmoved by his threats. Julian, stunned by the resolve in her eyes, steps back and offers an apology, promising the women will never appear before her again.
Opening
I had loved Julian Sterling for a decade, clawing my way to marry him. I even ruthlessly drove away the idealized first love he cherished. Six years into our marriage, women around him changed like a revolving door, yet no matter how he hurt me, I never considered leaving. Until that day, pregnant, I saw him bring another woman home, twisting and turning on our marital bed.
