The story

Eliana is one month pregnant and two days from marrying Isaiah when a video call brings a boy who looks just like him. The child calls her Mom and warns her not to marry Isaiah, claiming he has long been sleeping with Chloe. Eliana dismisses it—everyone knows her best friend Chloe and Isaiah are sworn enemies who bicker whenever they meet.

At the new house, she finds them decorating for the wedding and laughing off her fears. Yet doubt takes root. The boy calls again, naming himself Aiden and telling her where to look. What she finds under the bed and pillow shatters her certainty, and he speaks of a future she cannot bear.

Down in the parking garage, Eliana hears Chloe and Isaiah confess a hidden past, and the life she trusted begins to come apart.

Opening

I FaceTimed my fiancé, Isaiah, but a ten-year-old boy answered. He looked exactly like Isaiah.

He stared at me, his eyes instantly turning bloodshot. Then, he let out a heartbreaking cry, "Mom!"

I froze.

I was only one month pregnant and not even married yet. How could I have a ten-year-old son?

Before I could say anything, the boy shook his head, tears streaming down his face.

"Mom, I'm your unborn baby from the future."
