The story
Sarah and Luke, childhood sweethearts married three years, have reached a breaking point. When Sarah finds Chloe hiding under Luke's desk, she drags her out and slaps her, only for Luke to slap Sarah back and demand a divorce. Sarah refuses, breaks three of his ribs, and vows to make the couple live in her shadow forever.
Months later, Sarah discovers Liam, a starving nineteen-year-old, collapsed at her doorstep. She takes him in, and the gentle, hardworking boy slowly thaws her bitterness. He gives her the pendant from his parents, the only good memory he has left, and tells her she now matters more to him than anything.
As Liam's quiet devotion reaches her, Sarah must decide whether to keep chasing revenge against Luke and Chloe or let a new kind of happiness in.
Opening
The day my childhood sweetheart and I had our worst fight, he slapped me across the face for the girl he loved.
In return, I exploded and broke three of his ribs.
He screamed for a divorce, but I refused.
I thought we’d be stuck in this stalemate forever.
But karma comes fast.
Three months later, I fell hard for a sweet, innocent younger guy.
He started chasing me for a title.
