The Cheater and His Mistress

Amber has loved Mark since they were children, and for fifteen years he has been her whole world: the boy who moved in next door, the man who proposed on his first day as a resident, the husband who drove three hours every weekend so she would never spend one alone. Now her job transfer has finally come through, and she is driving to his city on his birthday to tell him she is pregnant.

Stopped at a red light, she reads a stranger's post about a love so pure it seems impossible: a doctor who gave a dying woman his kidney, and who now belongs to her even though he is married. Then a photo loads, and the man in it is Mark. The girl outside her car window, apologising for scraping her bumper, is the same girl.

When Mark arrives, he kneels to bandage the girl's knee without even glancing at his wife. Amber asks whether he has any right to do this to her, and he says nothing, shielding the girl with his arm. She drives away before her tears fall, carrying a secret she can no longer tell him.
