The story
Rebecca Shaw's husband Caleb Miller is a copycat. When his friend Jonas takes an affair partner, Caleb finds one too, leaving Rebecca alone in the hospital during a miscarriage to celebrate a hundred days with Willow Shea. He blocks her for three months, then rushes home to cook chicken soup only after Jonas' wife files for divorce and takes half his shares.
Caleb vows to become a devoted husband, but when Jonas arrives for dinner with a new woman and mocks him, Caleb pours the soup he made into the trash and walks out, warning Rebecca that without him no one will pay for her mother's treatment.
Rebecca has already signed the papers Caleb once filed to appease Willow, and a call to Mr. Parker confirms the court's judgment is on its way. The next morning Caleb returns, still expecting gratitude.
Opening
He would buy a watch or a car just because his friend did so.
Last year, his friend had an affair partner. He swiftly found one for himself, too.
“Jonas and the gang all do this. It’ll look bad on me if I don’t have one.”
The day I suffered a miscarriage and was hospitalized, he spent it with that woman, celebrating the 100th day anniversary of when they met.
“Jonas spends his time with his other woman. It’ll look bad on me if I don’t do the same.”
I went on my knees, begging him to sign the surgical consent form.
