The story
To her husband's family, she has the easiest life. As a stay-at-home mother, she was told her husband earned the money while she rested at home, so the housework fell to her. When she returned to work, they said her mother-in-law toiled with the child while she enjoyed an easy office job, so the childcare fell to her after hours. Her husband Liam calls her crazy for raising her voice, her mother-in-law mocks her, and even her son says other mothers are not like this.
One evening she comes home from overtime at eight to find her son still gaming with Liam, homework untouched. When she asks Liam to supervise their son's homework, he dismisses it, and the boy dawdles and daydreams. Her raised voice brings Liam pointing at her nose, calling her pretentious and asking whether she deserves to be a mother.
She retorts that he has never cared for their child for a single day. He answers with money, the income he says supports the family. As her mother-in-law rushes in to join the fight, she is left to decide how much longer she can carry this easy life alone.
Opening
My husband's entire family thinks I have the easiest life.
When I was a stay-at-home mom, they thought my husband worked hard to earn money, while I had it easy at home with the kid, so I had to do all the housework.
When I went back to work, they thought my mother-in-law worked hard taking care of the kid, while I had an easy office job, so I had to take care of the kid after work.
