The story
Three years ago, the Blackwoods brought Asher from Havenwood and renamed him Orion, their true heir, switched at birth two decades earlier. Every time, Justin, the son they raised, tearfully apologizes, and the family tells Orion to be the bigger person.
At the fourth gala, Justin stages a suicide threat from a high platform. Orion falls saving him and shatters his right leg. His family comforts Justin and sends word: know your place. Then Orion overhears his sister Sera promising Justin that his leg will never heal, and that she helped stage the earlier disasters. She tosses a credit card at his feet as compensation.
Clutching the music box from his adoptive mother, Orion calls his adoptive father and says he wants to come home. But Justin corners him with a whispered threat, and the Blackwoods' light was never meant for him.
