The story
When the Duke of Sterling, Xander, returns to the Kingdom of Zephyr, he brings with him Seraphina, the Princess of Aethelgard, worshipped in her homeland as a living goddess. At the Mid-Autumn Royal Banquet, the King and his court bow to her, yet Tiffany Tang, the Prime Minister's daughter famed as Zephyr's lucky charm, refuses to bend. Tiffany insists that five years of history bind her to Xander, and the King decrees that she marry into the Sterling house as a co-wife.
Xander crushes the decree in his fist, and the Duchess of Sterling makes plain that the household wants no second daughter-in-law. Tiffany, undeterred, treats Seraphina as a passing fancy to be displaced. But Seraphina is no new fling; she is the one Xander never forgot, and she meets Tiffany's challenge with a smile.
Between a royal daughter raised in schemes and a luck-blessed noble, the banquet becomes a quiet battlefield.
