The story
Every wedding anniversary, Christopher Kane brings home another woman from the streets for his wife Sarah to "train." On their tenth anniversary it is Lily, a cocktail waitress in a bunny suit, who is handed Sarah's wedding dress, jewelry and shoes. The guests place bets on whether Sarah will finally leave, as she has threatened so many times before.
This time Sarah says she wants a divorce and means it. Christopher refuses to believe her, reminding her that her family's bankruptcy left her father in a vegetative state and her mother dependent on his money. He forces her to kneel and put the shoes on Lily, then locks her away while he takes the girl to his room.
When a call comes that her mother is in critical condition after a car accident, Sarah begs Christopher to take her to the hospital, but he and Lily mock her and lock the door again.
Opening
On our tenth anniversary, Christopher brought home a cocktail waitress from a cheap club, dressed in a skimpy bunny suit.
"She doesn't have a gown. Give her your wedding dress. And that set of jewelry I gave you last time, give her that too. As for shoes... the ones on your feet look fine."
"Oh, right. She's young and inexperienced. Teach her well, especially about... bedroom matters."
Everyone waited for me to become a joke again. Instead, I fulfilled their expectations by saying I wanted a divorce.
