The story
At a Christmas yacht party, a young woman known to the crowd only as Will, the front-desk receptionist at Skylar Wells's father's office, is pushed into a circle of wealthy guests and ordered to play. Skylar, the CEO's daughter, and her boyfriend Dean Abbott treat Will as disposable entertainment, while Jax Ryker, the ringleader, raises the stakes with a revolver and a game of Russian roulette. What none of them know is that Will is Willow Lockwood, the real heiress, working the receptionist job only to satisfy a clause in her grandfather's inheritance wager.
As the games turn crueler, Jax produces a truth serum and Skylar takes over the questioning, forcing Will to answer before the assembled guests. Each confession costs her another piece of clothing, and Dean's fury grows with every admission. Will counts the hours left on her watch, guarding the terms of the wager even as her cover, her relationship and her inheritance hang in the balance.
She has survived worse than this deck of amateurs, but the night is far from over.
Opening
Dean wrapped Skylar in his own bespoke cashmere overcoat, then laughed, a casual, dismissive sound as he pushed me toward the circle of trust fund brats.
"What's the fun in watching the guys strip when you can watch the little ingénue type do it?"
Huddled in Dean's embrace, Skylar smirked, her voice syrupy sweet as she addressed the onlookers.
