The story
The day before her final senior exams, a girl named Olivia Hayes arrives at the Sterling mansion claiming to be the family's biological daughter, switched at birth. Harper, who has transmigrated into a novel and knows the plot, has already prepared: she told her parents of her suspicions and took a DNA test, confirming she is not a Sterling. Yet her adoptive parents refuse to send her away, and Olivia's talk of a tiny house and parents who don't make much money only deepens their pity.
Olivia chose this moment to shatter Harper's focus, just as she did in the original story, where Harper's collapse cost her the Valedictorian title. But Harper knows Olivia's schemes in advance, from the exam-day manipulation to the tampered food, and she has no intention of letting them work. As the DNA results confirm Olivia's place in the family, Harper must decide how to face the parents who raised her and the ones she has never known.
