The story
Liam has always been the top student in his school, until the second mock exams leave him dead last. A stream of floating text reveals the truth: everyone around him is bound to a Swap System, trading away his grades, his looks, his luck. Bound to a Predator System, he alone can identify the Swappers hidden among his classmates—but each correct identification kills the thief instantly, and failure before the SATs means becoming a "human swine."
He unmasks Sarah Jones, then his desk mate Caleb Miller, then his neighbor Zach Wilson, each death returning what was stolen. But the Swappers are learning to hide, and the countdown keeps shrinking. When a truck leaves him facing amputation, Liam must find whoever stole his Luck within twenty-four hours.
In a game where friends wear masks and mercy is fatal, every name he speaks could be his last.
Opening
When the results of the second mock exams came out, I, the perpetual valedictorian, was dead last.
Suddenly, a stream of text floated across my vision like a live chat:
[The male lead is so screwed! Everyone around him has activated the Swap System. They're forcibly trading attributes with him.]
[Swapping grades is just the beginning...]
The comments were all lamenting my tragic fate.
Until the next day.
