The story
For eight years Sarah sold her grandfather's house and worked as a janitor, paying Caleb's medical bills and rebuilding him into the World Boxing Champion. At his victory gala, he thanks the love of his life — and the spotlight lands on his team doctor, Chloe. The screens show a marriage certificate for Caleb and Chloe dated five years ago. He warns Sarah to stay quiet: the public needs a PR-friendly love story, and no one would believe a champion whose partner is a janitor.
Sarah confirms an overseas job offer, then finds Chloe already living in her grandfather's house, planning to repaint the wall where her height was carved and throw out the wicker chair she once used to coax Caleb through his paralysis. The deed, he says, sits under Chloe's name for tax reasons.
A real estate message reveals the closing was finalized three months ago, on Chloe's birthday. When Chloe calls about a sprained wrist, Caleb leaves Sarah to eat alone and deliver his gloves and mouthguard to the studio.
Opening
The year Caleb’s car crash left him paralyzed and shattered his career, I sold my grandfather's house and worked as a janitor for eight grueling years. I scraped together the astronomical medical bills to pay for his surgeries, standing by him until he reclaimed his title as the World Boxing Champion.
At his victory gala, he held the championship belt, tears in his eyes as he made a public confession.
“I want to thank the love of my life, who never gave up on me. May we spend the rest of our lives together.”
