The story
At their graduation dinner, Aaron and his debate partner Judith trade insults across the table while Nora sits between them. Judith is leaving for Atlanta, and Aaron has had Nora compile a full relocation guide for her — rental checklists, hospital addresses, transit routes — though he mocks Judith as helpless and insists he feels nothing for her. Nora quietly notes that when she told him about her own job in New York, he only said she should take care of herself.
Judith refuses the guide, and Aaron pushes it back at Nora to deliver. He remembers Judith's ten-twenty train but not Nora's seven-forty one, and at the yearbook shoot his message page for Nora is blank while he fills a shared album with plans to meet Judith in city after city. Nora tells him she wants to break up; he laughs it off and gives her three days to cool down.
Nora has spent years as the one who holds everything together, unnoticed until she is gone. Tomorrow she leaves for New York alone.

At our graduation dinner, Aaron and his debate partner Judith traded insults through me, one chair apart. Judith was moving to Atlanta. Aaron sneered she wouldn't last three months. She told him to mind his own business. He smirked, dropping a peeled shrimp in my bowl. "As if she's ever won once."
As dinner ended, Aaron slid a manila envelope to me. "Give this to Judith tomorrow."
