Our relationship was secret; only a few roommates knew.
I asked for it to be kept quiet because I have social anxiety.
He was too famous. I was afraid of being pointed at and stared at.
Maybe there was also some insecurity. I didn't think I was excellent enough for him, so I wanted to wait until the relationship was more stable.
But Caleb was clearly impatient.
These days, he was frequently posted on the Confession Wall, and a brave freshman girl was pursuing him relentlessly, saying she wouldn't give up as long as he was single.
Caleb pinched my face, half-laughing, half-annoyed:
"Why do I have to suffer this? I have a legitimate shield."
"Do you love me or not? Are you just playing with me?"
"You have to show something too. Just do one-tenth of what they do."
Yesterday on our date, we ran into someone we knew.
I immediately shook off his hand and jumped ten feet away.
His face went black instantly.
After I coaxed him for a long time, he looked at me with deep eyes.
His thin lips hooked into a bad-boy smile.
"Really want me to calm down? Then do one thing."
Thinking about what I was about to do, my palms sweated, and my heart pounded like a drum.
I pulled my baseball cap low, hiding most of my face.
My sweaty hands clutched my bag strap, too embarrassed to take the item out.
The speech on stage was ending. No time left.
I closed my eyes and steeled myself.
I shouted at the podium: "Caleb... Senior, I love you!"
Still too cowardly. I should have called his name, but I switched to a less intimate title halfway.
The nervous, urgent female voice exploded like thunder.
Caleb's voice stopped abruptly.
The venue went silent.
Everyone's gaze shot towards me like arrows.
Shock, disdain, disgust.
"Who is that? So shameless!"
"Where did this fangirl come from? Don't tarnish our heartthrob."
"Crazy! Look at the occasion."
I couldn't lift my head from shame, wishing I could find a crack in the ground.
Whispers drowned me like a tide.
Just when I thought I would suffocate from nervousness.
"Thank you. I love you too."
Caleb's voice sounded unhurriedly.
After a pause, he calmly added, "Junior."
The crowd went wild.
Seconds later, cries of "Senior, I love you too!" "I've loved you for a long time!" erupted, almost lifting the roof.
The scene turned into a massive confession fest.
In the end, I, the instigator, was kicked out of the auditorium by staff.
