The story
Riley's best friend Sarah Davis, a modest county courthouse clerk earning barely three thousand dollars a month, suddenly wires one hundred million dollars into Riley's bank account. The bank confirms the transfer is real, and a video arrives of Sarah in a tropical bikini, laughing and urging Riley to quit her job and travel the world.
But every detail of the video is wrong. Sarah is risk-averse and insecure, never wearing revealing swimwear or going bare-faced in public. Above all, she despises the color yellow, which triggers panic attacks after her grandmother's death, yet she wears a bright yellow bikini. Riley realizes the video is a distress signal.
Sarah's phone is disconnected and she has vanished, supposedly staying at a coworker's house. Her frantic parents and Riley search for answers as the mystery of the fortune and Sarah's disappearance deepens.
Opening
Right after the transfer went through, she sent me a video.
In the clip, she was lounging on a tropical beach in a string bikini, laughing directly at the camera.
"Did you get the cash I sent?" she asked. "Quit that garbage job, stop taking their crap, and go travel the world!"
