The story
After six failed attempts to demand a divorce, Susan agrees to her husband Jimmy's three rules: she must drive the college girl he sponsors to and from class, surrender half her paycheck for that girl's supplements, and never question his late nights. She obeys in silence, even after being diagnosed with terminal stomach cancer, signing her own refusal-of-treatment forms alone.
When Jimmy learns of her illness, he accuses her of faking it to drive out Emma, tears up the diagnosis and the divorce papers, rips out her IV line and drags her to her family's home. There her mother Martha slaps her, her father Richard demands she sign over her condo to Emma, and Jimmy orders her to comply. Back at the villa, Emma destroys Susan's painkillers and stages a fall, turning Jimmy's fury on Susan once more.
With the System counting down her remaining hours, Susan must decide how much of herself she has left to give.
