The story
For five years, Stacy Rivers has been the secret lover of Joseph Dorne, the younger brother of her best friend Jeanne Dorne. Four years his senior, she first met him at Summit University and later settled in the city of Balmora, where a single night drew them into a passion that never faded. Joseph is possessive and generous, and Stacy has believed their future was certain, waiting for the proposal he keeps promising.
Then, at a party, she overhears the truth: Joseph has always loved another woman, and Stacy was only ever practice, a toy he used to prepare himself for the girl of his dreams. Devastated, she flees into the rain and resolves to leave him behind, agreeing to meet the suitors her parents have arranged.
But when she returns home, Joseph is waiting in her living room, asking why she left without a word.

Stacy Rivers couldn't even go to the restroom without getting cornered by him against the washbasin, the young man's arms encircled around her slender waist.
Stacy's eyes swam. "Joseph, not so rough…"
