The story
Anya has spent eight years as a lawyer defending blue-collar workers, and her record is flawless. When a major publicly traded corporation drowning in a class-action lawsuit from its employees offers her a three-million-dollar retainer, she recognises the logo at once. Twenty years earlier, that same company refused to cover her father's workplace injury after he was forced to work three days and three nights straight; he died in the ICU, and the CEO's PR machine smeared her family until her mother jumped to her death.
Anya refuses the retainer and resigns, determined to represent the workers for free. The CEO, Donald Garrison, calls to offer her prestige, power and more money, but she turns him down. In retaliation, the firm's state registry access is suspended, and her colleagues beg her to back down, fearing for their licences and their families.
With the firm washing its hands of her, Anya must decide how far she will go against a man who has spent twenty years crushing anyone who stands in his way.
