The story
On her twenty-first birthday, Giselle Moore is framed by her adopted sister, Sophia Norris, for ruining a dress. Her older brothers, Gerald and Gary Moore, order bodyguards to tear her gown away and drag her into the basement, ignoring the asthma that makes the air lethal. By the time the banquet ends, Giselle is dead.
Yet she wakes in the grand hall, unseen, watching Sophia wear the ruby-and-emerald gown their late mother had meant for her. Gerald and Gary dote on Sophia, while the helper Alicia Norton is silenced when she asks about food for the basement. Sophia alone knows Giselle is gone.
When Zachary Green asks why Giselle is absent, Sophia lies that she is sick. Gary then takes Giselle's phone to send Zachary a cruel message, and Gerald suggests searching her chats with Sophia for proof of abuse. Sophia snatches the phone away, but Zachary storms in, demanding to see Giselle.
Opening
On my birthday, my adopted sister, Sophia Norris, frames me for soiling her dress and causing her to not be able to attend the banquet.
My older brothers, Gerald and Gary Moore, immediately demand that I give my gown to Sophia. Otherwise, they will cancel the birthday banquet.
Furious, I point at them while screaming, "I didn't ruin her dress at all!
