The story
Elena's grandmother Beatrice is famous for getting confused. When Elena tells her not to touch her work laptop, Beatrice pawns it for pocket change, costing Elena her job and her career. Later, Beatrice sells the gold bracelet Elena bought for her boyfriend Ethan and hides Elena's infertility report in the gift box instead; Ethan breaks up with her, and then dies in a crash. Her father Arthur forces her to apologize, her mother Martha and brother Austin watch, and broken, Elena ends her life on the city bridge.
But Elena opens her eyes again, reborn at the exact moment Beatrice nearly burns the house down. This time she saves her laptop and her valuables, and she refuses to clean up her grandmother's mess. When Beatrice and her family demand an apology, Elena turns their own excuses back on them, and when Austin discovers his pawned figures, the household begins to tear itself apart.
Elena intends to protect her career and the man she loves, and to let her toxic family drown in Beatrice's mistakes.

I told her not to touch my work laptop. She immediately took it to a pawn shop, sold it for pocket change, and got me fired and blacklisted from my industry.
When I confronted her in tears, she just scoffed. "I’m just an old lady who made a mistake! Is it really that big of a deal?"
