The story
Simon has spent seven years proving his love to Claire Musk, the heiress of a wealthy family. Convinced that everyone wants her money, Claire never believed Simon's feelings were real. To show his sincerity, he handed over every paycheck he earned and never spent a cent of hers, walking five kilometers to work each day because he could not afford a taxi.
When his mother is in a sudden car accident thirty kilometers away, Simon asks Claire for thirty dollars for a taxi to reach her one last time. Claire refuses, accusing him of being a gold-digger. He never sees his mother alive again. Returning home, he finds Claire throwing a birthday party for her childhood sweetheart, Justin Miller, who wears a luxury watch worth thirty million.
When Justin tosses Simon a bank card that once held the wedding savings Simon had given Claire, and then suggests she take his apartment, Simon refuses. He tells them both to get out of his home.
Opening
My girlfriend is the true heiress of a wealthy family, yet she suffers from severe paranoia. She's convinced that everyone is out to exploit her.
She never believed in my love. In her eyes, I stayed with her only for status and money.
To prove my sincerity, during our seven years together, I never spent a single cent of hers. I handed over every paycheck I earned.
As for myself, I couldn't even afford a few dollars for a taxi.
