The story
In the bridal suite before her wedding, Clara watches her foster sister Molly tease her fiancé Colin with a crude question. Colin answers calmly that he was with someone last night, then produces a marriage certificate from the County Clerk's office. He and Molly married at City Hall that morning, on what is also Clara and Colin's eight-year anniversary.
When Clara demands to know why, Colin says Molly simply wanted it. Molly kneels and pleads that true love cannot be fought, while Colin insists the day's ceremony must go on for the families and that Clara should stay silent. Clara refuses, declaring the wedding off, but Colin calls her emotional and reminds her she paid for the lavish venue herself.
Clara stands amid the wreckage of eight years and a decade of care for Molly, forced to decide whether to walk down the aisle at all.
Opening
Through the chaos, my foster sister, Molly, suddenly stepped forward. She pulled a small foil packet of condoms from her clutch, a teasing, wicked smile playing on her lips as she looked at Colin.
"So, Colin," she purred, drawing out the syllables. "When was the last time you got lucky?"
